For Dr. Adil Shamji, all policy is health policy. This maxim propels him in his work on the frontlines of healthcare, in the lecture hall, serving constituents, and in the Legislature.
Over his many years practising as an emergency physician in both urban and remote Canadian environments, Adil gained an understanding of how intimately connected public policy and people’s health outcomes were. In 2013, he began working with Indigenous populations in the Canadian Arctic, where his passion for improving the health of individuals reeling from social challenges such as homelessness, poverty, and isolation was ignited.
He holds the rank of Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and has engaged in award-winning research exploring educational technology. From 2017 to 2018, Adil pursued a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford, where he learned to leverage his experience in science and medicine to advocate for creative, pragmatic policy interventions that are grounded in evidence.
Fueled by a desire to help as many people as possible, Adil gathered his knowledge and expertise and entered the race for Member of Provincial Parliament for Don Valley East, which he won in June of 2022.

When Doug Ford's Conservatives started picking away at our public institutions and making backroom deals to undercut the fabric of Ontario, he thought he could get away with it.
But he wasn't counting on people like you.
Every day, more of our friends and neighbours join Adil and stand up to stop Doug's secret agendas and backroom deals.
Together, we're fighting for a better, more affordable Ontario. For patients, not profits. For education and our environment.
